Change of Name Announcement

Allion pleased to announce that our English company name has changed from Allion Test Labs, Inc. to Allion Labs, Inc. as of March, 2012.
Allion has extended our business coverage from testing service to Engineering Service. In accordance with the expansion, we would like to use a name which reflects the goal of our business strategy. The change of name is only limited to English company name, Allion’s company names of other languages will remain the same.

Leading the Era of USB 3.0
Allion SuperSpeed USB Certification is Now in Service

The most technological progress of SuperSpeed USB, commonly known as USB 3.0, is to support up to 4.8Gbps speed as much a tenfold increase in HighSpeed USB (USB 2.0). The ultrahigh transmission speed enables one 4.7GB DVD-Video completely transmit within 11 seconds; in addition, the power supply of USB 3.0 is enhanced from 500mAh to 900mAh while providing two-way transmission with full backward compatibility. Allion Now as Car Connectivity Consortium ATL for Seamless In-vehicle Connectivity

Dedicated in product quality assurance and standard compliance testing, Allion (Allion Test Labs, Inc) today announced its new role as the accredited Authorized Test Laboratory (ATL) of Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC) and has been listed on the CCC official site (please refer to http://carconnectivity.org/ ). Allion is now the sole CCC ATL in Taiwan and Japan regions. As the role of ATL, Allion will keep assisting CCC to promote its in-vehicle connectivity standard by offering real-time technical consulting and certification services.
CCC is a non-profit organization across industries such as cell phone and automotive. The vision of CCC is to create an open and common technical standard by allowing mobile devices like Smartphones, tablet PCs and e-books to communicate with In-Vehicle Infotainment system (IVI system) seamlessly. And the ultimate goal is to provide a convenient and intuitional in-vehicle user experience for all potential consumers. This universal standard has officially named as MirrorLink™ in this September to pursue the seamless connectivity within car environment.
MirrorLink™ is a standard combined and specified around a set of well established and existing standards to fulfill the ideal in-vehicle user scenarios. It uses Universal Plug and Play (UPnP™) to give access to only pre-advertised applications, Virtual Networking Computing (VNC™) to replicate the phone display and to provide key and touch events back, Bluetooth™ and Real-Time Protocol (RTP) over UDP for audio streaming, and other technologies like IP mechanism. MirrorLink™ also supports legacy car connectivity solutions like Bluetooth™ HFP and A2DP. All of these above-mentioned individual standards/ technologies can be tested and validated via Allion.
Despite it’s a lately developed standard, MirrorLink™ is already endorsed by several IT giants. For example, Nokia launched a series of MirrorLink™ enabled Smartphone and Panasonic’s in-car Display-Audio system called ‘Toyota Touch Life’ for the Toyota iQ city car is also certified in late November. It is highly expected to penetrate automotive, mobile communication and consumer electronics fields by a tremendous volume of product adoption in the near future. Allion Shenzhen to Become New SATA Independent Test Lab

Allion (Allion Test Labs, Inc) is pleased to announce that its Shenzhen facility, Allion Shenzhen Inc, is now the official SATA Independent Test Lab (ITL) certified by the Serial ATA International Organization (SATA-IO). From now on, vendors will be able to choose their preferred service locations for SATA Certified Logo Program with high flexibility. Allion Shenzhen is currently the only SATA ITL in China region to conduct SATA Interoperability Testing; while Allion itself is also the sole testing firm providing SATA certification service in three spots including Taiwan, China and US.

Serial technical articles by Allion Japan will be presented on Nikkei Electronics from April 18.

Minoru Ohara, executive manager of Allion Japan is invited by Nikkei Electronics to write serial technical articles sharing the experience of Design and Evolution of Several Interfaces on Nikkei Electronics pages. Nikkei is one of the Major Technical magazines in Japan.
These articles are mainly for “NE Academy”, which is design for beginner technician. Ohara-san will introduce technical remarks on different interfaces. The first article on April 18 is talking about ”Design Risk Managements”. Other popular subjects such as HDMI, USB, SD card and SSD storage will be covered on later release. Link Layer Tests to become a Mandatory USB 3.0 Compliance Test

USB-IF announced that the Link Layer Tests will become a required USB 3.0 compliance test for certification beginning with the USB-IF Compliance Workshop #78 in July 2011. All vendors who are participating at this workshop and applying USB 3.0 Compliance Test need to pass the Link Layer Tests.
Currently, Ellisys and Lecroy offer test solutions for Link Layer testing, and have been participating at the PIL and USB-IF compliance workshops. All products that need USB 3.0 certification will be required to pass both Link Layer test solutions until these solutions are approved by USB-IF.

Allion Raises Employee Donations for the Massive Earthquake in Japan

The massive earthquake and tsunami on Mar. 11th has hit the northeast of Japan and has done great impact to the local residents. As a long-term partner of validation service support, Allion has been working closely with Japan IT industry and would like to express our deepest sympathies to all sufferers of this unfortunate disaster.
To help the stricken region rebuilding, Allion Japan (アリオン株式会社) will donate one million yen and Allion Headquarter is also raising employee donations for emergency relief. All donations will be given to Japanese Red Cross Society(日本赤十字社) in the end of March.
We sincerely hope to see Japan’s earthquake recovery soon.

Allion’s Another Success Event, CP Plus 2011 in Tokyo

Allion Japan recently joined CP Plus 2011 as a Business Meets exhibitor early this Feb. CP Plus is a comprehensive camera and photo imaging show held in Tokyo, Japan annually. On the spot, Allion has introduced its diverse validation solutions and gained lots of attention from the visitors. Allion’s ink benchmark experiment finding and well-known interoperability program were also showcased and become one of the spotlights in the scene.
The ink benchmark experiment indicates the quality difference of branded ink cartridges and counterfeit ink cartridges. Under the same condition, using branded ink cartridges can constantly print out high quality photos; on the contrary, using counterfeit ink cartridges allow fewer copies and have huge color difference. The interoperability program is Allion’s another strength. With more and more products are invented and brought to the market, ecosystem validation therefore becomes extremely important.
CP Plus allows a wide range of products such as digital cameras, camcorders, printers and monitors to be demonstrated and branding companies from all over the world have all gathered together to transmit the latest information on brand-new products, services, and technology. Allion Shenzhen As the HDCP ATC for HDMI and DisplayPort Programs

Having a long and tight cooperative partnership with IT standard associations all over the world, Allion (Allion Test Labs, Inc) is recently empowered with another new mission. Certified by DCP, LLC(Digital Content Protection, LLC), Allion Shenzhen facility is now the HDCP Authorized Test Center(ATC) of both HDMI and DisplayPort Compliance Programs. Starting immediately, vendor applicants can flexibly submit their application to the nearest test location for the HDCP Compliance Test.

HDCP(High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection)is a technical standard developed to protect digital entertainment content across different interfaces. With HDCP, the audio and high-definition video content can be protected from unauthorized interception and duplication. The purpose of HDCP Compliance Test is to help verify if the compliant products can meet the required test claims. As the HDCP Compliance Test turns mandatory and is implemented into HDMI and DP standards, that is to say, products embedded with above-mentioned interfaces must be able to conform to the HDCP specification and pass its compliance program.

Allion (Allion Test Labs, Inc), a global engineering services center, announces today that its Taipei facility is now the official Qualified Test Lab(QTL)for TransferJet. In addition to its earlier oversea qualification announcement, Allion is now able to provide the TransferJet Certification Testing Services at both of its Japan and Taiwan facilities.

TransferJet is a brand-new close proximity wireless transfer technology developed by the TransferJet Consortium. Allion Certified as Wi-Fi Direct™ Authorized Test Lab

Allion Japan certified as TransferJet Qualified Test Lab (QTL)

Allion Japan is certified as TransferJet™ Qualified Test Lab (QTL) by the TransferJet Consortium. TransferJet is a new interoperable wireless transfer technology that enables rapid transfer of high resolution video, music and images with just a single touch.
The TransferJet Consortium was launched upon the agreement of Sony Corporation, Canon Inc., Eastman Kodak Company, Hitachi Ltd., Victor Company of Japan, KDDI Corporation, Kenwood Corporation, Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. (Panasonic), NIKON CORPORATION, Olympus Imaging Corporation, Pioneer Corporation, SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS CO., LTD., Seiko Epson Corporation, Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications, and Toshiba Corporation.
TransferJet is a new wireless technology that combines the speed of UWB (Ultra-Wide Band) with the ease of NFC (Near Field Communications). TransferJet allows high speed transfer of large data files (photos, video, images, etc) between two electronic products such as mobile phones, digital cameras, camcorders, computers, TVs, game products, and printers.
