Allion Labs, Inc. (Allion) has been officially authorized by Intel Corporation as a Certification Test Lab for PCs and notebooks with Thunderbolt™ ports. Thunderbolt™ technology can not only transmit high-definition display and data, but also makes the breakthrough of PCIe interface from internal bus to external usage. This means a variety of devices on the PCIe interface can be also used in accordance with Thunderbolt™ technology to improve multiple devices' interconnectivity and interoperability, and to provide flexibility and simplicity for thin system designs. The milestone also underscores Allion's commitment and interface certification experience to be the first wave lab for PCs and notebooks certification. Allion Labs, Inc., the global leader of engineering validation and standard certification, has announced that it has officially become an authorized independent test laboratory for the HTC Connect™ Program. Allion is currently one of only two HTC Connect test labs in the world, and is the first lab in the Asia region. Starting now, vendors can contact with Allion’s worldwide branches for the technical consulting and certification application of HTC Connect Program.
The HTC Connect Program is a program launched by HTC Corporation; the goal is to deliver smooth end-to-end connectivity and interoperability between HTC smartphones and corresponding consumer electronics/accessories. Consumers are able to connect an HTC smartphone to an HTC Connect-enabled device with no instruction manual needed, and enjoy a smooth user experience.
HTC Connect adopts wireless streaming technologies for enhanced connectivity. Testing services for DLNA compatible devices are now available, and will gradually expand to other wireless communication technologies such as Bluetooth. In 2012, WFA has already released five new certification programs, including WPA2™ with Protected Management Frames (PMF), Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ Passpoint, Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Miracast™, Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ TDLS and Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ IBSS with Wi-Fi Protected Setup™. As WFA ATL (Authorized Test Laboratory) for years, Allion, accumulated abundant experience and technical depth in Wi-Fi technology, is always the first wave to conduct Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Programs. The five certification programs launched in 2012 make no exception. In the future, we will constantly update the latest information of the WFA, and seamless link together you and Wi-Fi as well to complete the ideal ubiquitous Wi-Fi technology.
- WPA2™ with Protected Management Frames (PMF)
Based on IEEE 802.11w standard, WPA2™ with Protected Management Frames (PMF) provides a WPA2-level of protection for unicast and multicast management action frames, strengthening privacy protection for data frames with mechanisms that improve the resiliency of mission-critical networks. The goal of the Wi-Fi Alliance is to ensure interoperability among WPA2 with PMF products from multiple manufacturers. PMF provides strength security for management and control between access point and stations.
- Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Passpoint™
Wi-Fi Alliance is now testing mobile devices and infrastructure equipment for its Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Passpoint™ program. Passpoint mobile devices can automatically discover and connect to Wi-Fi networks powered by Passpoint-certified access points without any ID and password set, delivering the true mobile broadband experience that users want. As mobile users continue to increase their use of data-intensive applications, Passpoint eases service provider data traffic offload to Wi-Fi networks.
- Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Miracast™
Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Miracast™ is a brand new certification program launched by Wi-Fi Alliance to ensure certified devices implement and follow the WFA Wi-Fi Display Specification properly. The Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Miracast™ standard allows device to deliver audio and video content from one to another through the use of Wi-Fi connection. Device types such as TVs, set-top boxes, NBs, handsets and tablets are considered to be the most applicable products to adopt this compelling wireless display standard.

- Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ TDLS
Besides, Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Miracast™ devices will also support Tunneled Direct Link Setup (Tunneled Direct Link Setup, TDLS), which allows them to connect via an infrastructure network. TDLS enables more efficient data transfer and the use of more advanced Wi-Fi capabilities than those supported by the legacy infrastructure network through which the devices are connected.
- Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ IBSS with Wi-Fi Protected Setup™
WFA has launched one brand-new certification program for mobile Ad-hoc networking operation called Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ IBSS with Wi-Fi Protected Setup™. The combination of WPS(Wi-Fi Protected Setup) with IBSS (Independent Basic Service Set) connections will create secure and short-term wireless transmission architecture under WPA2™ security mechanisms. The Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ IBSS with Wi-Fi Protected Setup™ program enables mobile consumer devices like smartphones, cameras, printers, multimedia players and portable game devices connection without an AP, in a dynamically deployment of Ad-hoc network where allows the simple sharing of images or information for social network applications.

The SLOC™ solution is designed to simultaneously transmit analog CVBS video and digital IP video over a single coaxial cable. SLOC™ supports distances up to 500 meters of coaxial cabling and also provides HD resolution transmission. (Allion) has been officially authorized as Bluetooth Qualification Test Facility (BQTF) by Bluetooth Special Interest Group (Bluetooth SIG) to perform the Bluetooth qualification conformance tests. This is a greater step made after the qualification of Bluetooth Qualification Expert (BQE), which indicates that Allion furthers Bluetooth certification technology to an advanced evolution. Allion is now launching a more comprehensive approach to the Bluetooth certification and consulting services. From Bluetooth specification evaluation, test plan preparation, actual conformance test execution, problem debugging/ issue identification, test results review to the listing of Qualified Design Listing (QDL) and End Product Listing(EPL), Allion provides Bluetooth vendors with the most consistent and professional Bluetooth engineering validation and consulting service.
Allion’s self-designed & developed Bluetooth qualification test equipment “Allion Bluetooth RF Test System (ABRTS)” and “Allion Bluetooth Test Suite (ABTS)” recently also have successfully be certified by Bluetooth SIG. Starting from testing validation service; and has developed as a global leading engineering validation & consulting company, Allion Labs, Inc. (Allion) is now moving to a brand-new milestone. For better service quality, Allion has expanded its service scope to a deeper level with superior Engineering capability since the beginning of 2011. The major transformation strategies include:

Allion Now as Car Connectivity Consortium ATL for Seamless In-vehicle Connectivity |

Dedicated in product quality assurance and standard compliance testing, Allion (Allion Test Labs, Inc) today announced its new role as the accredited Authorized Test Laboratory (ATL) of Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC) and has been listed on the CCC official site (please refer to http://carconnectivity.org/ ). Allion is now the sole CCC ATL in Taiwan and Japan regions. As the role of ATL, Allion will keep assisting CCC to promote its in-vehicle connectivity standard by offering real-time technical consulting and certification services.
CCC is a non-profit organization across industries such as cell phone and automotive. The vision of CCC is to create an open and common technical standard by allowing mobile devices like Smartphones, tablet PCs and e-books to communicate with In-Vehicle Infotainment system (IVI system) seamlessly. And the ultimate goal is to provide a convenient and intuitional in-vehicle user experience for all potential consumers. This universal standard has officially named as MirrorLink™ in this September to pursue the seamless connectivity within car environment.
MirrorLink™ is a standard combined and specified around a set of well established and existing standards to fulfill the ideal in-vehicle user scenarios. It uses Universal Plug and Play (UPnP™) to give access to only pre-advertised applications, Virtual Networking Computing (VNC™) to replicate the phone display and to provide key and touch events back, Bluetooth™ and Real-Time Protocol (RTP) over UDP for audio streaming, and other technologies like IP mechanism. MirrorLink™ also supports legacy car connectivity solutions like Bluetooth™ HFP and A2DP. All of these above-mentioned individual standards/ technologies can be tested and validated via Allion.
Despite it’s a lately developed standard, MirrorLink™ is already endorsed by several IT giants. For example, Nokia launched a series of MirrorLink™ enabled Smartphone and Panasonic’s in-car Display-Audio system called ‘Toyota Touch Life’ for the Toyota iQ city car is also certified in late November. It is highly expected to penetrate automotive, mobile communication and consumer electronics fields by a tremendous volume of product adoption in the near future. Allion Shenzhen to Become New SATA Independent Test Lab |

Allion (Allion Test Labs, Inc) is pleased to announce that its Shenzhen facility, Allion Shenzhen Inc, is now the official SATA Independent Test Lab (ITL) certified by the Serial ATA International Organization (SATA-IO). From now on, vendors will be able to choose their preferred service locations for SATA Certified Logo Program with high flexibility. Allion Shenzhen is currently the only SATA ITL in China region to conduct SATA Interoperability Testing; while Allion itself is also the sole testing firm providing SATA certification service in three spots including Taiwan, China and US.

Link Layer Tests to become a Mandatory USB 3.0 Compliance Test |

USB-IF announced that the Link Layer Tests will become a required USB 3.0 compliance test for certification beginning with the USB-IF Compliance Workshop #78 in July 2011. All vendors who are participating at this workshop and applying USB 3.0 Compliance Test need to pass the Link Layer Tests.
Currently, Ellisys and Lecroy offer test solutions for Link Layer testing, and have been participating at the PIL and USB-IF compliance workshops. All products that need USB 3.0 certification will be required to pass both Link Layer test solutions until these solutions are approved by USB-IF.

Allion Raises Employee Donations for the Massive Earthquake in Japan |

The massive earthquake and tsunami on Mar. 11th has hit the northeast of Japan and has done great impact to the local residents. As a long-term partner of validation service support, Allion has been working closely with Japan IT industry and would like to express our deepest sympathies to all sufferers of this unfortunate disaster.
To help the stricken region rebuilding, Allion Japan (アリオン株式会社) will donate one million yen and Allion Headquarter is also raising employee donations for emergency relief. All donations will be given to Japanese Red Cross Society(日本赤十字社) in the end of March.
We sincerely hope to see Japan’s earthquake recovery soon. |

Allion Japan recently joined CP Plus 2011 as a Business Meets exhibitor early this Feb. CP Plus is a comprehensive camera and photo imaging show held in Tokyo, Japan annually. On the spot, Allion has introduced its diverse validation solutions and gained lots of attention from the visitors. Allion’s ink benchmark experiment finding and well-known interoperability program were also showcased and become one of the spotlights in the scene.
The ink benchmark experiment indicates the quality difference of branded ink cartridges and counterfeit ink cartridges. Under the same condition, using branded ink cartridges can constantly print out high quality photos; on the contrary, using counterfeit ink cartridges allow fewer copies and have huge color difference. The interoperability program is Allion’s another strength. With more and more products are invented and brought to the market, ecosystem validation therefore becomes extremely important.

Allion Shenzhen As the HDCP ATC for HDMI and DisplayPort Programs |

Starting immediately, vendor applicants can flexibly submit their application to the nearest test location for the HDCP Compliance Test.

HDCP(High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection)is a technical standard developed to protect digital entertainment content across different interfaces. The purpose of HDCP Compliance Test is to help verify if the compliant products can meet the required test claims.
