As a leading global product validation and engineering services company, Allion Labs, Inc. (Allion) has just recently received official approval from the Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM) to become the world’s first Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcast Service Receiver Specification test facility outside of Malaysia. In this new role, Allion can now assist local manufacturers obtain mandatory certifications for the import of DTV devices to Malaysia.

Starting in 2015, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) enacted rules that mandate Type Approval (TA) certification for imported digital TV devices. The MCMC invested SIRIM with the authority to enforce these rules, so that all imported DTV devices meet the Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcast Service Receiver Specification (SKMM MTSFB TC T004). This specification covers many aspects, including EMC emissions (MS CISPR 13), Radio Frequency (RF), Electrical Safety (MS IEC 60065), Service Information (SI), and OAD requirements. SIRIM hosts an e-ComM website to facilitate DTV device certification submissions.

As an ISO-17025 accredited test laboratory, Allion is currently the only validation and certification laboratory in the world that can operate RF, SI/PSI and OAD tests that conform to the SKMM MTSFB TC T004 specification. Our independent test reports are not only accepted in Malaysia, but also in other countries around the world. Besides providing comprehensive DTV device test services, Allion can satisfy a wide variety of product compliance requests. Allion also offers value-added consulting engineering services that span the entire product development life cycle, from initial design through to product validation, compliance, and debugging support.

Allion has invested heavily in its laboratory testing facilities, which include a Broadcast Test Center for digital TV signal validation for emerging markets. Besides the Malaysian market, Allion can also provide digital TV conformance test services for countries such as Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, India, Australia, New Zealand, Kenya, Tanzania, and ECOWAS countries, such as Nigeria and Ghana. Allion has collected a comprehensive library of worldwide TV signal streaming data including signals from North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Japan and China. This signal data is invaluable for improving product usability through scenario testing.
