Allion, appointed by Wi-SUN Alliance as the third-party test lab, recently assisted Wi-SUN members in obtaining the world’s first Wi-SUN Field Area Network (FAN) Certified products.

Field Area Networks, derived from open-standards IEEE and IETF, allows smart devices to communicate with one another in large-scale IoT networks such as smart cities, smart grids, and intelligent street lighting. The Field Area Network (FAN) Certification was launched by the Wi-SUN Alliance to certify the smart devices used in the IoT networks.

Allion is one of the first test labs appointed by the Wi-SUN Alliance to perform FAN 1.0 Certification. We can help vendors to obtain Wi-SUN Certified FAN logos, which is an assurance for users that the products are compliant with the standards. To date, Allion has offered FAN Certification services to world-leading enterprises such as Cisco, Itron, Nissin Systems/Kyoto University/ROHM, Landis+Gyr, ProCubed, and Renesas.

Wi-SUN enabled technologies are currently utilized in Field Area Networks (FAN) and Home Area Networks (HAN). With features like low power consumption, compatibility, easy setup, and mesh-based networking, Wi-SUN is broadly applied in IoT networking like smart metering and Home Energy Management Systems (HEMS).

As the appointed third-party test lab, Allion is capable of delivering consultancy and testing services regarding Wi-SUN certification. Our test solutions will guarantee vendor that their Wi-SUN enabled products will be perfectly interoperable with other smart devices.
